Castello di Santa Eurasia

In 2009, London-based Russian businessman and entrepreneur, Evgeny Lebedev, and his oligarch father, Alexander, purchased the ruined Castello di Santa Eurasia in Italy’s Umbria region. The medieval castle and former military outpost sits atop a steep hill offering dramatic 360-degree views of the surrounding countryside. The 35,000-square-foot building and registered monument had been abandoned for more than six decades and was little more than a pile of rubble, before being completely renovated and modernised by the Lebedevs.

Acclaimed Los Angeles interior designer to the stars, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, was employed to transform the interior of the castle. Known for his eclectic and stylish interiors, Lawrence Bullard approached Zardi & Zardi as his vision saw that the Devonshire Hunting series of tapestries would fit in perfectly with his grand bedroom scheme.
